Teaching Christians to Answer the World's Questions
JESUS: APPOINTED AND FAITHFUL (HEBREWS 3:2)
Jesus was faithful to the task set before Him by the Father just as Moses was faithful. But whereas Moses failed to achieve perfect faithfulness, Jesus (being God) was perfectly faithful, committing no sin. Join us as we also discuss a point of contention between Christians and Jehovah's Witnesses. In Greek, the word "poieo" is translated "appointed," meaning Jesus was appointed by God the Father to complete His mission on Earth. But Jehovah's Witnesses believe this word only means to "make" or "create." This would result in Hebrews 3:2 saying that God "made" Jesus. If Jesus was "made" He is not eternal, and if He is not eternal then He is not God. The implications are very important. Listen as we analyze the two perspectives and ask whether the Bible ever uses "poieo" to mean "appointed."
