Teaching Christians to Answer the World's Questions

A PRIEST IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK (HEBREWS 5:6-10)

The Messiah is supposed to be both our King and our High Priest.  But according to 1st century Jewish society, kings were supposed to be descended from David (from the tribe of Judah) whereas priests were to be descended from Aaron (from the tribe of Levi).  At first glance it seems impossible to be filling both roles.  Even the great King David was not permitted to act as priest as well.  So how can a Messiah be born who could legitimately fill both of these roles?  In these verses the author of Hebrews begins to answer this question.
