Sometimes in our desire to make sure we are pleasing God we can lose sight of His true message. That is what the Pharisees did in Jesus' time and that is what many people continue to do today. The danger is that in our attempts to please God we start to act as if we have some ability to earn our way into heaven rather than recognizing our inevitable sinful nature.
