THE SUPERIOR HIGH PRIEST OF THE NEW COVENANT (HEBREWS 4:14-16)
We all have faced disappointment with someone close to us at some point in our lives. Having good friends is a good thing, but nobody is perfect. If you put someone up on a pedestal, they will inevitably fall off eventually. But God will never fall off. He is perfect. In our times of deepest need, God will always be there for us. First century Jewish Christians were struggling with whether to return to Judaism and its system of sacrifices via a human High Priest. But the author of Hebrews points out that Jesus is a far superior High Priest than any human being could ever be. Why rely on an imperfect human when you could have the perfect God in your corner?
