Teaching Christians to Answer the World's Questions
DOES GOD EXIST? THE TELEOLOGICAL ARGUMENT: THE UNIVERSE ON A RAZOR'S EDGE In our second podcast on the question of whether God exists we begin to explore the teleological argument, sometimes called the "argument from design." The cosmological argument showed us that the universe has a cause, and that the cause is eternal and without form. While that provides some clues to the existence of the Christian God, we believe that the one true God is also intelligent. The cause of our universe is not some mindless, random natural phenomenon. It is an intelligent being. The cosmological argument does not provide us with any information about that crucial aspect of the Christian God. But that is where the teleological argument kicks in. Using evidence from astrophysics and astronomy, TMM President Ken Coughlan shows how the universe simply must have been designed by an intelligent agent. This podcast focuses on the evidence from astrophysics, saving the astronomical evidence for the next podcast. In this lesson, Ken demonstrates that the laws which govern the operation of our universe are so finely tuned that it defies reason to believe they are the result of anything but an intelligent mind deliberately "stacking the deck" in our favor.
