Ten Minas Talent Pool

What is the Ten Minas Talent Pool? Basically, its a collection of people with various talents who are willing to volunteer their services to help people in need. Ten Minas is often approached by people who have some need, but don't have the resources or the "know how" to get it. For example, in the past we've been approached by people who had no picture ID, and as a result couldn't get a job or a place to stay. We've also had people come to us who were in need of a handicapped accessible van.

When needs like this arise, Ten Minas tries to act as a middle man, getting people in need together with people who may be able to help them. To that end, we collect a list of people who may be willing to volunteer their services, whatever those services may be. That way when people come to us with a need, we have a ready database of volunteers with certain talents and can try to match the talent with the need.

If you have a particular talent and may on occasion be willing to volunteer, please contact us and let us know. We'd like to take down your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and of course your talent(s) for our database (which is kept confidential offline in Ten Minas files). Then if someone comes to us with a problem that fits your talent, we'll get in touch with you and ask if you are available. Please understand that by agreeing to put your name on the list you are not automatically agreeing to take on any case we call you about. We understand that life circumstances change and when the need actually arises you may or may not be in a position to chip in. All we are asking at this point is that you consider adding your name to the pool. If and when we call, you are free to say either yes or no to the particular task. Ten Minas will take on the responsibility (before we contact you) of verifying that the need is a legitimate one.

Also, please don't underestimate the importance of whatever talent you may have. We are always on the lookout for people with certain technical skills, such as mechanics, carpenters, welders, etc. We also need professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, business owners of various types, or anyone with talents in these areas even if they are not currently working in those capacities. But we also need people who can help with things like transportation. If you have a pick-up truck, for example, and are willing to help move things from time to time, or if you don't work during the day and are available to take people who don't have transportation of their own to medical appointments, etc., we could use your name on the list. No talent is too small, so no matter what your talent is, please tell us about it.  And if you know someone with a special talent, please tell them about us so they can decide if they would like to add their name to the pool as well.
